These Yachtsun holidays are at one of the most beautiful locations in the Ionian, at the Greek Island of Meganisi
which has crystal clear waters, sunshine and the ideal wind conditions to make it a sailing paradise.
The climate from May to October is warm and very pleasant which results in remarkable luxuriant plant life. Even in the warmer summer months,
the Islands, covered with Olive and Pine trees, are a beautiful green with tree fringed bays. One of which is Atheni Bay, on the north side
of the island and this is the base for Meganisi Dinghy Sailing.
A steady NW wind builds up during the morning, which gives a good Force 4-5 breeze in the afternoon, making for exciting Dinghy
and ‘Cat’ sailing. In the evenings the wind normally dies away and at sunset there is hardly a breeze to disturb the leaves.

Experienced dinghy sailors can enjoy sailing in deeply indented, breathtaking beautiful bays, which branch off in all directions
into hidden inlets all around the Atheni sailing base, just waiting to be discovered. Within just 2 to 3 miles a dinghy sailor can
explore 23 bays and 14 miles of coast line.
On Meganisi the world is as it should be, you can land on any beach with a dinghy or catamaran or brave the rickety wooden landing
stages of the tavernas to enjoy the Greek hospitality of the Meganisi locals, pleased to welcome you to their island.

If you are want to learn to sail, Meganisi Dinghy Sailing offer beginner´s courses for Dinghy or Catamaran.
The sailing school provides individual, expert tuition in a convivial holiday atmosphere.

Meganisi Island Holiday |
The Ionian Islands have increased in popularity as a holiday destination, so inevitably this has had some impact on the islands.
They do however still retain their unspoiled beauty, none more than Meganisi. On the island there is much to explore, not just for sailors,
but nature lovers and those just wishing to escape to a more peaceful way of life.
Much of the Island now has a narrow surfaced coast road joining the island´s villages and main bays. To take advantage of this and the
many narrow tracks, Mountain Bikes are available for hire from the Atheni Sailing Base and also Canoes to explore the bays.
The popular ‘Greek Nights’ at Niagas Taverna with Spiros & Dimitris, Barbecues on the beach and friendly,
hospitable locals all contribute to ensuring this holiday is too short.
